The name Lübecker Marzipan refers to marzipan originating from the city of Lübeck and has been protected by an EU Council Directive as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) since 1996. The marzipan manufacturers of Lübeck follow certain principles of quality by voluntary commitments, controlled by the German Institute for quality assurance and labelling.

The traditional way of manufacturing combined with high quality standards produces a special quality appreciated by marzipan connoisseurs. The special roasting process in open copper kettles aside, the secret lies in the high quality raw materials used. One example is the almonds used, which are grown around the Mediterranean. The climate there gives them a distinctive almond flavour.
Don't be fooled by the yellow packaging, this is a WHITE marzipan.
